Topgolf Director, CAPEX Planning in Dallas Office, Texas

Overview

The Director of CAPEX Planning works with the Topgolf Development department to help fulfill Topgolf’s mission: To produce extraordinary sports and entertainment experiences through actively engaged Associates. This role will report directly to the Vice President of Design and Construction and will be responsible for helping to improve the quality and extend the usable life of our existing venues by creating and implementing a comprehensive strategy for replacement of venue infrastructure, key assets, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a comprehensive asset management strategy for replacement of key assets, property, and infrastructure (i.e. kitchen/bar equipment, HVAC units, roofing, parking lot, etc) for existing venues. Strategy should include assessment, forecasting, capital budget, scheduling, and ultimately execution

  • Collaborate with Development, Facilities, and Operations on refinement of a larger program for a 7-year Refresh of existing venues. Program should include a process for surveying/auditing venues in Year 6, and defining the scope of work to be implemented in Year 7

  • Work with with Procurement and Finance to manage the annual venue CAPEX budget. Publish to Operations what portion of the annual budget must be spent in planned asset replacement across the portfolio in a given year. Manage the submission, review, and approval process for Authorization For Expense (AFEs) for unplanned spend from Operations

  • Build and lead a team of Capital Expense (CAPEX) project managers in the oversight of all CAPEX projects at existing venues as required by the growing workload. Track projects that get approved and assign project managers to each as soon as reasonably appropriate. Team will oversee the design, permitting, and construction of any major renovations or new initiatives as approved by Senior Leadership

  • Lead weekly status meetings with the team to get feedback on the status of ongoing projects Ensure periodic project status reporting to appropriate interested parties as necessary

  • Work with the Director of Barrier Netting and the Install Senior Manager to evaluate long-term resource needs for Topgolf-specific replacement scopes at existing venues such as barrier netting, turf, targets, game bay equipment, etc. Include both internal team members and external third-party vendors on long-term planning strategies to ensure production can keep pace with growing number of new venues

  • Provide periodic onsite presence on any large-scale special projects as needed by the CAPEX project managers. If support is needed at critical junctures (venue audits, surveys, critical milestones, final inspections, punchlist, turnover, etc), last-minute travel may be required to provide senior leadership influence

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Facility Management, Construction Management, or other related field preferred

  • 10-15 years building or facility management experience working in the care and maintenance of restaurants, retail, hospitality, and/or entertainment venues

  • Extensive experience in leading a team of building management professionals, as well as communication and collaboration with internal and external partners

  • Proficiency in standard business software such as the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Experience with MS Project scheduling software strongly preferred

  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Extreme attention to detail
