Topgolf Director, Advanced Analytics in Dallas Office, Texas


The Director of Advanced Analytics will use predictive analytics, mix models, scenario planning, testing and statistical procedures to uncover business drivers and help drive strategic plans. The work will ultimately improve our investment ROI and drive enterprise network value. This is role will influence the organizational agenda by developing statistical processes to unlock the value of data. Ultimately, this role and the Guest Insights and Strategy team are responsible for providing breakthrough insights and thought leadership that drives business strategies, identifies opportunities, and mitigates risk for Topgolf and its’ sub-brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, diagnose and interpret analytically focused projects such as mix modeling, predictive analytics, and scenario planning, to make recommendations to key stakeholders for improved business performance. Discern key drivers of business growth through advanced analytic techniques and statistical testing. Understand and manage data flow between and across our brands, as well as key providers including the media agency, social media agency, finance and 3rd party modelling companies. Lead or collaborate with third party consultants on key initiatives, like inventory management and optimization. Construct and curate disparate and messy datasets to leverage in modelling. Create dashboards or decks to communicate the analytics. Respond to complex inquiries with actionable insights and advice.

  • Lead advanced analytics on a range of initiatives that may involve issues related to marketing mix analysis, CLV, segmentation, pricing and/or inventory optimization. Maintain an agile perspective to apply advanced analytics to a range of business issues.

  • Develop advanced analytics learning agenda that is impactful, future focused, adaptive and innovative. Guide and prioritize work based on potential impact, organizational readiness and benefit.

  • Participate in joint Marketing, Operations and IT projects. Participate and may lead working groups and steering committees with cross functional business partners.

Key Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in the hard sciences, computer science, engineering, or other applicable field required

  • 10+ years demonstrated business impact by leveraging marketing mix modelling to positively influence media effectiveness required

  • 10+ years relevant Data Science, Applied Mathematics, and/or IT experience required

  • 10+ years experience using any flavor of the Apache Hadoop Framework, e.g. Hortonworks, Cloudera, MapR required

  • 10+ years demonstrated business impact by leveraging marketing mix modelling to positively influence media effectiveness

Critical Skills

  • Developing, testing, and curating statistical and machine learning models

  • Data query and validation tools such as RapidMiner Studio, DataGrip IDE, etc

  • Coding in general purpose languages, e.g. Java, Python, C++ Using cloud offerings, e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP

  • Using software version control, e.g. Github.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience with data visualization technologies such as Jupyter Notebooks, R Shiny, and Tableau

  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships and achieve results by working collaboratively with others

Travel 5% venue visits, conferences, etc.
