Topgolf Controller in Dallas Office, Texas

Overview

The Controller is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating of all accounting related activities; ensuring regulatory compliance, overseeing accounting operations, analyzing financial data, coordinating auditing processes, supporting statutory filings and maintaining finance policies, systems and records for accurate and timely financial close & reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department & strategic goals and objectives

  • Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting policies, procedures and SOX/Internal controls. Avoid SOX failures and remediate timely any deficiencies

  • Oversee preparation, review and issuance of complete, accurate and timely financial statements and account reconciliations

  • Ensure proper accounting of all transactional processes that fall under record-to-report, order-to-cash and procure-to-pay including payroll, in a timely manner

  • Comply with all local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

  • Active management, development and supervision of team to meet deadlines, achieve Company goals and ensure compliance

  • Review and assist with negotiating vendor contracts for efficient accounting application and favorable economic outcomes

  • Champion automation and drive simplicity. Lead the financial systems teams to ensure consistency in US GAAP accounting as well as implementation of any new systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Tax or Finance preferred

  • 10+ years CPA and/or Public Accounting Experience

  • 10+ years Management experience in Multi state/ Multi location fast paced environment

  • 10+ years Publicly Traded Company Experience and dealing with Big 4 CPA firms

  • 10+ years Strong experience in Corporate Accounting covering, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, Inventory, T&E, Lease and International accounting

  • 5+ years Proficiency in large ERP systems (SAP preferred) as well as other software packages i.e., COUPA, Business Objects, Microsoft Office, with a high proficiency in Excel

  • 3+ years Restaurant / Entertainment / F&B Experience

  • 3+ years Shared Services experience

  • Must have high degree of integrity, reliability, sense of urgency, decisiveness and professionalism

  • Must be collaborative, innovative, analytical and have a strong commitment to excellence, continued learning and development talent

  • Must be team oriented, able to fulfill and adapt to requests of our internal and external clients

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills in order to professionally communicate. Effectively manage recruitment, retention, training & development of staff

  • Must have strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines, support our venues for financial information

  • Must have strong leadership, management, team building, and problem-solving skills. Strong track record of building and motivating cross-functional teams

  • Must have proven technical experience in working with Big 4 auditors, valuation specialists, and other financial reporting leaders

  • Must have proven technical experience in working with Big 4 auditors, valuation specialists, and other financial reporting leaders

  • Travel up to 5% - Might need to visit Venues, Corp office in California etc. from time to time
